Art Christian Louboutin Flats mystery at the journal sentinel I had a wonderful art adventure yesterday, and i didn't even need to leave the journal sentinel building.Graeme reid, the assistant director of the museum of wisconsin art was interested in seeing what work we had in our art collection here.The journal and sentinel both had a history of being good patrons of the arts, as has the journal sentinel from time to time. Armed with a list of major works in the collection from our files, graeme and i began scouting out artworks in hallways and offices.I met people i'd never met before and walked through departments i didn't even know existed.We work in a pretty large, labyrinthian structure. "He was keeping an eye open for it especially and told me he thinks its one of the best moeller paintings there is.In his teens, moeller apprenticed in a small, commercial studio with a photographer who would one day be one of the most famous of the 20th century, edward steichen.Moeller is known for his depictions of small, wisconsin towns. It seemed like there was a mel kishner inside every office and closet.Graeme thinks we probably have one of the largest collections by this artist, which make sense he was the former art director at the paper.The group of kishners are uneven.I liked some much better than others, but it would be interesting to gather them all together and see them in context(See image, right). I took graeme to see a portrait of frances stover by francesco spicuzza sitting sideways on chris foran's desk.Chris, one of my editors, grabbed the piece when we consolidated our newsrooms last year.It seemed like the work might otherwise have been left behind, chris said.I don't know much about frances and no one on staff today was familiar with her.I did a little hunting through our archives.She was the arts editor and critic at the journal for decades.Essentially, she's my predecessor. We also found major works that are not on the official list, including a nice john colt painting, a print series by bruce nauman, by far the most important artist in our collection from what i've seen so far, and an etching by john wilde featuring 75 of the state's most important artists in the last century and a half, in his view.We also have two large still lifes by mark mulhern, a pretty fabulous bleed print by ed paschke and a watercolor by lisa englander all also not on the list. Then there were the artworks that were on the list but not exactly in the most suitable of places back hallways, unused offices and even a few restrooms.There's a really lovely ruth christian louboutin australia grotenrath painting in a ladies room, for instance(See image, left). But the real mystery was that, after combing the major floors of the building, we'd only found a fraction of the work on the list.Where was the bulk of the collection?We called one of our security executives, who zipped over from our burnham facility(Where we print the paper)To help us in the hunt.We started opening utility closets and storage rooms.We found a few pieces in one utility room and, then, we hit the mother lode.There it was, in what looks like an old boiler room and storage closet.Racks and racks of paintings, most of them gathering dust. It's safe to say, our collection deserves a bit more attention and upkeep.What is happening here is a fairly common tale, especially for businesses that reorganize and move.It is so easy to lose institutional knowledge about art collections. It was really wonderful to have graeme's eye and expertise directed at our collection.
